Northcentral University is a private, for-profit university based in Prescott Valley, Arizona. It was founded in 1996 by Dr. Donald Hecht who had earlier established the Southern California University for Professional Studies (SCUPS). Dr. Hecht was determined to find a “better way’ of education after experiencing first hand the necessity of continued education in getting work promotions, after going through the difficulty of traveling back and forth to the nearest university while still employed. While SCUPS also provided correspondence courses and degree programs for adult students, Northcentral University eventually became the “better way” which offers degree programs online. This separate institution which offered online degree programs is now currently owned by Rockbridge Growth Equity, LLC, and Falcon Investments, LLC.
The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
