The TTT program was created to address the shortage of teachers in certain areas, especially those that are high-needs, while also providing military veterans with an opportunity to use their valuable skills and experiences in a new career. Many veterans possess leadership, discipline, and problem-solving skills that are highly valued in education and can make them excellent teachers.
The Troops to Teachers (TTT) initiative assists former service members and veterans in obtaining their certification and securing teaching positions in K-12 schools. This program was recently reinstated on December 27, 2021, through the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022, after it was discontinued on October 1, 2020.
