What is Air Force Bootcamp?

How Long is Air Force Bootcamp?

The first few days of BMT are known as "Zero Week" and are designed to acclimate you to military life. During this time, you will receive your initial uniform issue, get a haircut, undergo medical and dental exams, and begin to learn military customs and courtesies.

The remaining weeks of BMT are broken down into three phases. Each phase builds on the skills and knowledge you learned in the previous phase, and by the end of BMT, you will have developed the skills and training necessary to become an Airman.

  • Phase 1: Focuses on developing discipline and attention to detail. During this phase, you will learn military customs and courtesies, basic drill movements, and physical training.

  • Phase 2: Focuses on developing teamwork and leadership skills. During this phase, you will learn about Air Force core values, teamwork, and how to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Phase 3: This is the final phase that focuses on developing your war-fighting skills. During this phase, you will learn about weapon handling, field training, and survival skills. You will also be required to pass the Air Force Physical Fitness Test (PFT), which consists of push-ups, sit-ups, and a timed 1.5-mile run.

Throughout BMT, you will be challenged both mentally and physically, but you will also have the support of your fellow trainees and your instructors. By the end of BMT, you will have developed the skills and training necessary to become an Airman, Wingman, and Warrior and be ready to take on whatever challenges come your way.

What to Expect During Air Force Bootcamp?

Air Force Bootcamp is physically and mentally demanding, and it is designed to push you to your limits. You will be required to wake up early, follow a strict schedule, and learn to work as part of a team. You will also be expected to follow a strict code of conduct and adhere to military standards at all times.

During bootcamp, you will live in dormitory-style housing and share a room with several other trainees. You will be assigned a drill instructor who will guide you through the training and provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to succeed.
