Grantham University is a private for-profit university located in Kansas City, Missouri that primarily offers its academic programs in the online format. It was founded by Donald Grantham as the Grantham Radio License School in 1951.

He initially offered Federal Communications Commission License Certification Courses to veterans of World War II before the school was formally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in 1961 through the national accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

The original school was located in Los Angeles, California. It established additional learning sites and campuses in Seattle, WA; Kansas City, MO; Hollywood, FL; and another campus in Los Angeles as it expanded its academic offerings.

It underwent several name changes and was for a time known as the Grantham School of Electronics, and Grantham College of Engineering. It eventually consolidated all its educational activities in one campus in Los Angeles and decided to offer only distance learning programs.

It relocated to Louisiana in 1993 and became the Grantham University in 2002. It again had to relocate to its present location after Hurricane Katrina destroyed its school facilities.
