Full Sail University

Full Sail University is a for-profit trade university located in Winter Park, Florida. It was founded by Jon Phelps as the Full Sail Recording Workshop in 1979. The original campus was located in Dayton, Ohio but relocated to Florida in 1980. It started occupying its present location in 1989 when it expanded its curriculum to include other areas of study related to entertainment and media. It began offering online degrees in 2007 and achieved university status in 2008.

Its campus boasts of world-class studios and production spaces. Its facilities manifest the full integration of the entertainment media industry with the students’ daily life on campus. Instructors are industry veterans that do not only bring knowledge to the classroom but the actual experience and expertise that can only come from years of experience in creating movies, games, and music. Full Sail University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) which accredits vocational schools and career schools.

Tuition costs vary depending on the chosen program. Tuition costs include textbooks, manuals, media, production materials, lab fees, technology fees, and other related costs.

Master’s Degrees – $802.00 for Entertainment Business, $664.00 for Game Design;

Bachelor’s Degrees – $575.00 for Computer Animation, $457.00 for Creative Writing for Entertainment, $555.00 for Digital Arts and Design, $463.00 for Entertainment Business, $647.00 for Film, $571.00 for Game Art, $571.00 for Game Development, $457.00 for Music Business, $586.00 for Recording Arts, $457.00 for Sports Marketing and Media, $574.00 for Show Production, and $592.00 for Web Design and Development;

Associate’s Degree – $448.00 for Graphic Design, and $435.00 for Recording Engineering. Military students can avail themselves of combined financial aid benefits and funding as provided by the Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and the US Student Financial Aid. Spouses and dependents of military servicemen can also qualify for certain benefits.

Institutional Scholarships include Courage and Creativity Scholarship, Dedication Scholarships, Entertainment and Media Industry for Women, Full Sail Creative Minds Scholarships, Gateway Scholarship, Global Achievement Scholarship, Hall of Fame Scholarship, and Hybrid Scholarships. Tuition assistance for active duty personnel results to a low tuition rate of $4,500.00 per year or $250.00 per semester hour. Online degrees offered by Full Sail University fit into the schedule of active duty life.

There are more than 19,200 students enrolled in the various programs of Full Sail University. The university is not currently affiliated with any intercollegiate athletics conference. The student population is comprised of 15% male and 85% female.
